Saudi Arabia Highlights Importance of Global Partnerships for Water Resources Management

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed that the growing global challenges of achieving water security require accelerating the shift from dialogue to implementation and from broad commitments to measurable, practical impact. It emphasized the importance of international cooperation and partnerships in leveraging expertise in integrated water resources management, thereby enhancing the impact of the World Water Forum, which the Kingdom will host next year in Riyadh.

This was stated in a speech delivered by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley at the Second Stakeholder Consultation Meeting for the 11th World Water Forum, which reviewed ministerial priorities in preparation for the forum.

Alfadley noted that the ministerial track of the forum is particularly important, as it enables ministers and senior officials to align priorities, strengthen political commitment, and advance practical, scalable solutions to global water challenges.

He said discussions focused on three main areas: political messages for joint action, themes for international cooperation through ministerial engagement in 2027, and practical initiatives to enhance water security and sustainability.

The session’s outcomes will feed into draft topics and proposals for the ministerial declaration and dialogue sessions ahead of the forum in March 2027.

The Kingdom will host the forum in Riyadh in March, reaffirming its leading global role in the water sector, with wide international participation from governments and stakeholders.
