"Masam" Removes 1,765 Mines Across Various Regions of Yemen

"Masam" project, of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center for clearing Yemeni lands of mines, successfully removed 1,765 mines across various regions of Yemen within the last week of February 2026 This included 13 anti-personnel mines, 5 anti-tank mines, 1,745 pieces of unexploded ordnance, and 2 improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
As in Hadramawt Governorate, "Masam" team removed 12 anti-personnel mines and 1,669 pieces of unexploded ordnance in Al-Mukalla District, where in Hajjah Governorate, the team removed one anti-personnel mine in Midi District, and in Ma'rib Governorate, they removed 5 anti-tank mines, 76 pieces of unexploded ordnance, and 2 IEDs in Ma'rib District.
The number of landmines removed during February rose to 8,447, bringing the total number of mines removed since the start of "Masam" project to 545,952. These mines were indiscriminately planted across Yemen, claiming the lives of innocent children, women, and the elderly, and sowing fear among the population.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, continues its efforts to clear Yemeni lands of landmines as part of a project that enhances civilian safety and contributes to enabling Yemenis to live dignified and secure lives.
