Producing More Than 120,000 Tons of Watermelon Enhances Al-Jouf's Agricultural Standing
Al-Jouf Region continues to strengthen its position as one of the Kingdom's leading agricultural regions, benefiting from its natural resources, diverse crops, and advances in modern farming methods that have improved production efficiency and quality.
Watermelon is among the summer crops that have achieved remarkable success in the region. Annual production exceeds 120,000 tons from more than 3,750 hectares of cultivated land, reflecting the capacity of Al-Jouf's agricultural sector to meet local market demand and support the Kingdom's food security system.
Farmer Fahd Al-Khaldi said that the accumulated expertise of farmers, coupled with the adoption of modern technologies in farm management and irrigation, has contributed to achieving high productivity levels. He noted that watermelon has become one of the most sought-after agricultural products during the summer season.
Farmer and trader Abdulaziz Al-Shammari said that the high quality of the produce has enhanced marketing opportunities both within and outside the region. He added that farmers continue to develop cultivation methods and crop-care practices to increase the value of agricultural products and strengthen their competitiveness in the market.
The success of watermelon cultivation in Al-Jouf reflects the region's diverse agricultural capabilities. These capabilities contribute to economic development and support the sustainability of agricultural production, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to develop the agricultural sector and increase its contribution to the national economy.
