Darah Receives Digital Archive from Institute of Public Administration
Under the patronage and in the presence of Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Darah and the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) signed a memorandum of cooperation today during the Darah Forum. IPA Director General Dr. Bander Alsajjan also attended the signing ceremony.
The memorandum aims to strengthen scientific, knowledge-based, and training cooperation between the two entities. It also supports national efforts in historical documentation, institutional development, and capacity building, contributing to the preservation of historical and national knowledge and the development of human capabilities.
As part of the agreement's implementation, IPA presented Darah with a digital copy of its historical documents and periodicals, along with their descriptive metadata.
The archive represents the collection accumulated by the institute since its establishment. It includes specialized materials related to records preservation, information organization, archiving, and institutional knowledge management. The collection also contains periodicals, newspapers, and magazines preserved within the institute's knowledge and archival holdings over the past seven decades.
The digital archive donated to Darah contains more than 50,000 historical documents. The collection covers a variety of subjects, including government records and archives that reflect aspects of Saudi Arabia's administrative, organizational, and institutional development across different historical periods.
The transferred materials also include newspapers and magazines converted into digital files from microfilm reels. These materials represent a valuable knowledge and media resource documenting social, cultural, and intellectual developments in Saudi Arabia, the Arab region, and the wider world.
Darah has made the documents and digital materials available to researchers and interested individuals through its Beneficiary Services Center. The center enables users to browse the digital content and request materials needed for their studies and research.
