Saudi Arabia Showcases Comprehensive AI Ecosystem Model at WSIS Forum
Saudi Arabia showcased its journey in building a comprehensive national artificial intelligence ecosystem that combines responsible governance with the deployment of AI applications across multiple sectors. It also highlighted the contributions of national entities in advancing Saudi Arabia's AI ecosystem by supporting governance and ethical frameworks, developing advanced computing infrastructure, fostering research and innovation, and enabling national capabilities. These efforts reinforce Saudi Arabia's position as a global model for developing responsible and accessible artificial intelligence.
This came during a panel discussion organized by the Kingdom, represented by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), on the sidelines of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum, with the participation of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), and Prince Sultan University, as part of the Kingdom's efforts to promote international collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and share best practices in support of a more sustainable, trusted, and inclusive digital future.
The Saudi delegation also highlighted the Kingdom's experience in leveraging AI across vital sectors, including government services, healthcare, and media, emphasizing the importance of building an integrated AI ecosystem that balances technological advancement with trust, transparency, and inclusivity and aligns with local values and cultures.
The session featured a high-level discussion on the key lessons learned from Saudi Arabia's approach to scaling AI responsibly, as well as opportunities to strengthen international collaboration in governance, investment, and infrastructure innovation, enabling countries and institutions to benefit from successful models for building sustainable national AI ecosystems.
